I have spent a considerable amount of time, thinking about how to best fit a speaker into my bathroom. After all, I never sing as good as when I take a shower, and it would probably be even more fun if I had some music to sing to. But the space is pretty limited, espacially when I don’t want to drill any new holes tiles for a wall-mounted shelf. There are actually only one free area, between one of the walls and the washing machine. This area is approximately 15*38 cm.

Have been looking for a shelf which could fit there for a long time, without any success. Shelves doesn’t seem to be made with those measures. Last week, when I visited Ikea for a few other things, I watched carefully for anything which could work as a shelf. When I almost had given up, I found the cupboard inset “Variera”. Two bigs ones and two smaller looked like a perfect combination.
You wait and see… But first, I want to show some (if you ask me) pretty good cable installations đ (For me, Ikea automatically redirects to swedish, please tell if it doesn’t redirect to your language!)
Objects whichs isn’t heavy enough to stand steady have to be attached to the foundation in some way. Here I used Velcro tape to attach the multiple socket to the shelf:

Then I bundled the main for the subwoofer. Please notice the cableway on the outside of the subwoofer…

Speaking about cableways, I use them alot, so here is a picture of how one look. The back of it is covered by some sticky strip, so you can just puch to where it should be fitted.

Used a couple of this at the back of the shelf to run the cable from the subwoofer to the satellite. For me, it was easiest to open the cable ways before attaching them to the shelf, otherwise you might accidently remove them when opening them.

And since I added this multiple socket, I thought I could have my electric razor at this shelf as well. Used to have it on the floor of my living room, hidden behind a curtain. I attached the charger with velcro tape (just as with the multiple socket) and added cableways for the main.

Har lÀnge och vÀl gÄtt och funderat hur jag ska stÀlla in en högtalare i badrummet. Det lÄter ju aldrig sÄ bra som nÀr man sjunger i duschen, och det blir förmodligen Ànnu roligare med musik till. Men utrymmet Àr ganska begrÀnsat, speciellt om man som jag inte Àr sÄ sugen pÄ att borra i kaklet och sÀtta upp nya vÀgghyllor. Egentligen finns bara ett ledigt utrymme, mellan tvÀttmaskinen och en vÀgg. DÀr har man ungefÀr 15*38 cm ledigt.
Efter att ha besökt ett antal butiker man man lugnt konstatera att det inte Ă€r nĂ„got vanligt mĂ„tt för hyllor. Men sĂ„ gick jag runt pĂ„ Ikea hĂ€romveckan och spanade, inte bara pĂ„ hyllor utan ocksĂ„ i princip vad som helst som skulle kunna fungera som hyllor. Var nĂ€stan pĂ„ vĂ€g att ge upp, nĂ€r jag pĂ„ vĂ€g ut frĂ„n köksavdelningen fick syn hyllinsatsen “Variera”. TvĂ„ stora och tvĂ„ smĂ„ verkade vara en perfekt kombo. VĂ€nta och se… Men först mĂ„ste jag visa lite hur smarta kabeldragningar jag gjorde pĂ„ vĂ€gen đ
Saker som inte ha tyngd nog att hÄlla sig pÄ plats av sig sjÀlva bör man sÀtta fast i underlaget pÄ nÄgot sÀtt. HÀr anvÀnder jag t ex kardborre för att sÀtta fast grenuttaget:

Kabelkanaler ja, anvÀnder det till fler saker, kanske bÀst att visa hur den ser ut. PÄ baksidan sitter det nÄgon slags sjÀlvhÀftande remsa, sÄ det Àr bara att trycka dit den dÀr man tycker att det passar:
SÄ nÄgra sÄdana satta jag pÄ baksidan av hyllan för att dra sladden i som gÄr frÄn baslÄdan till toppen. MÀrkte att det Àr lÀttast om man öppnar kabelkanalerna innan man trycker dit dom, annars Àr det lÀtt hÀnt att man rÄkar slita bort dom nÀr man ska öppna.

Och nÀr jag ÀndÄ hade uttag lediga, tÀnkt jag att det hÀr var ett utmÀrkt stÀlle att ha rakapparaten pÄ. Den har tidigare stÄtt gömd pÄ golvet bakom en gardin i vardagsrummet. Satte fast laddare med kardborre (precis som med grenuttaget) och tryckte dit kabelkanaler för nÀtsladden.
Sen var det bara att stÀlla det hela pÄ pÄ plats och fylla pÄ med andra nödvÀndigheter:
