Halford: “We didn’t want an imitator”Halford: “We didn’t want an imitator”

That’s exactly how Rob Halford put it in a Rolling Stone interview recently, when they discussed how their thoughts about how to replace KK Downing:

Rob, would you say Richie joining has revitalized Priest?
Halford: Yes, absolutely. And that’s not dissing what K.K. [Downing] did. You just have to look at it as a different experience, which is what Richie provides. Richie isn’t K.K., and vice versa. We didn’t want an imitator – we wanted a great, world-class, stellar metal guitar player

I daresay that’s not how KK and Glenn thought when they replaced Rob Halford? 🙂

On the whole an interesting interview, it seems like they have a lot of things coming up, even though they have said that this was supposed to be the last tour ever.

I also like how Richie Faulkner puts in when it comes to a question about how it is to be involved in the songwriting process:

Are you involved in the songwriting process, Richie?
(…) I’ve been in bands before [where they said], “Oh, you can’t play that, it sounds like Priest.” Now you can.

Are you involved in the songwriting process, Richie?
(…) I’ve been in bands before [where they said], “Oh, you can’t play that, it sounds like Priest.” Now you can.

Tacksam sits 🙂
