The greatest drum joke ever told Världens bästa trummis-historia

This is based on a true story. However, names and places have been changed to protect the guilty.

A couple of years ago, about 15 000 drummers from all over the world met at a big convention in Hamburg, Germany. Among a lot of less important activities, the main purpose with this convention was to once and for all prove that drummers aren’t so weak-minded as everyone always tells them. Or joke about all the time. For example, I guess most drummers are pretty fed up with jokes like:

– What happened when the bass player forgot the keys inside his car and locked the doors?
– It took almost two hours before they found someone who could open the car so the drummer could come out too.

And similar. But this convention should end those stories.

Terry Bozzio had been choosen to hold this very important activity. So on the last day of the convention, all the 15 000 drummers gathered in a big hall. Terry Bozzio walked up on the stage, accomponied by cheers and applause. He bows to the audience and says in his microphone:

– You know why you are here tonight?
– YEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSS, roars the crowd.
– That’s a good start, Terry says and continued:
– We shall now, once and for all, prove that drummers aren’t stupid. And for this, I will need one voluntery. Do we have any voluntery in the audience tonight?

15 000 pairs of  arms are raised towards the roof, accompanied by more roaring. Terry looks around for a while, and finally he points at a guy close to the stage, wearing a Rush t-shirt. The security guards escort the guy to the stage.

– Welcome, Terry says. You will help us to succeed with this experiment. What’s your name?
– My name is Tom,
he answers.
– Ok Tom, this is really simple. I will ask you a question. If you can answer this question, we consider it proven that drummers aren’t as stupid as everyone think. Do you understand?
– No problem,
Tom answer back.
– Tom, how much is 27 times 4?

Suddenly everyone in the hall becomes very silent and people start to look really anxcious. But not Tom. He looks really confident and answer with a smile:

– Fourteen.

It would be possible to hear when a pin hits the floor. But soon some starts chant, very candenced:

– ONE MORE CHANCE, ONCE MORE CHANCE!

More people join the chanting, and soon everyone in the hall are screaming at the top of their voices:

– Yeah, Terry says. I think that was a too difficult question. You will have a somewhat easier question, which still will prove what this is about. Tom, what is 24 divided by 3?

Tom doesn’t need much time to think and answers:

– Fourteen.

As if you switched the light off, it becomes very silent again. But this time the chanting starts almost immediately.

– ONE MORE CHANCE, ONE MORE CHANCE!

Terry looks a little bit confused, but finally he seems to decide that this might be a good idea.

– Tom, you will have one more chance. I mean, we are not supposed to be rocket scientists. So, the final question is: What is 2 times 7?

This time, Tom needs to think for a while before he answers. But then he says:

– Fourteen.

Terry smiles and looks relieved. He won. Hands are raised towards the roof again, and almost at the same time, everyone in the audience starts to chant:

– ONE MORE CHANCE, ONE MORE CHANCE!

#Best drum jokes

– Vad hände när basisten råkade låsa in sina bilnycklar i bilen?

[…] It might not be unfair to suggest that my view of drummers is somewhat complicated.. But I guess that it is as with women, “can’t live with them, can’t live without them”. Even though it’s easier to tell jokes about drummers, they are not that huffish in general. […]
